I've seen a few on ESPN recently and barely a game goes by without a couple of punch up's taking place on the ice rink.
Homoerotic sports involving fighting are big here.

In the NHL it's all on the ice, if you want to see crowd violence you have to go to minor league or children's games.

Mums usually. If they weren't so fat it might be fun to watch.

It wasn't like any of the homoerotica I've ever seen and I live near one of the biggest gay districts in Europe.

Oh I don't like the sound of that. I used to see 'supportive' mums at college basketball games in the US though, wearing either a replica of the kit or dressed completely in promotional team garb.

Taking it a bit too far I think.

You wouldn't happen to be a bitter Citeh fan would you?

Honestly, when it comes to bastards, the captain (in name only), Gary 'I speak in the 3rd person' Neville, often comes to mind to me.

I'm not but 2 members of my immediate family are, my sister has been posting related facebook status updates all day.

I don't follow football at all, it's never really interested me if I'm honest and I don't know one player/manager from the next. My asian girlfriend actually knows much more about it than I do.

I suspect that's why some expats like to avoid other brits.

Hmm, maybe I'm reading too much into this...
No, I don't think you're reading into this too much. I've been in Florida and run into brits wearing replica strips and searching for english beer and food in the supermarkets there and they come across as quite twee.

I've always resisted going to Orlando for that very reason.
