Can anyone tell me what monthly costs for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers are? How much cheaper is Canada than the UK?

According to my wife's lawyer, the cost for one adult and one teenager is $4000/month tax free + use of a house + use of a car. That's a 2005 figure, if there was inflation it'll be more for 2006.

It's got nothing to do with the actual cost of living.

Seriously though, I guess it depends on which province you live in and how much you're earning. I don't think it's cheap to live anywhere now.

Just what I was thinking "Hang". By those calculations a family of 2 adults and 2 children need between $8000 and $10000 a month to live in Canada and the average worker is earning less than $4000 easily, so what sort of advice is that, absolute crap.

Not exactly, still, not to argue over that, I've paid it for the past fifteen years or so. The reason it's the subject of litigation now is that it used to cover one adult and three kids and two of those kids have grown up and moved away. I think two people need a bit less, perhaps $2,500 + car + house in order to live in moderate fashion.

I tried to look into it as well and after talking to friends
& relatives in Canada came to a figure of about $33,000 per annum. Say about $2500 - 3000 per month + house + car. I will find out how good this estimate is after I have moved in May !!! This is not for City in Toronto but say commutable suburb of Toronto. You have also to be mindful about medical and dental care expenses. Harrys.
