No it wont.
Your best bet is to come over with a copy of your UK credit history, and hope for the best. Each bank (ie/ branch) will take their own view, but by and large, you'll be starting from scratch.
The fact that you'll have PR will be a major bonus though...

Interesting question. Some years ago police officers were not considered particularly good credit risks. Can't say if the same thinking applies today. Hopefully not.

the most common reason police applicants are rejected is poor credit and debit. It demonstrates, immaturity and poor management of one's affairs and could be viewed as a security risk.

Cos that's how it is in Canada. One thing to do is get a secured (with a cash deposit) credit card and use that a lot.

Re: Cost of Living

people with twp's are an increased risk because
1- on paper they're here for a finite period of time, usually 12 or 24 months tops. There's nothing stopping a twp borrower from leaving debts behind at the end of that period.
2- if you're laid off, normally your work permit becomes invalid and so you lose your income.
As a twp myself it's unbelievably frustrating, but I can understand their reasons and that's just the way it is.
If you have PR the above obviously don't apply...

Yes, I have worked on military projects in three countries and I know that writing a rubber cheque can be the kiss of death, at least employment-wise. This is a pain because anyone can forget to pay a bill, transfer money between accounts, etc. and each case is recorded and can go against you.

God forbid that anyone should be concerned about our governments spending money they do no have. Twits.
