I don't believe it:
The container failed to update as having been loaded on Saturday, so yesterday I phoned and emailed Hapag-Lloyd.
No replies, but now when I track the container it says it's scheduled on yet another boat, one that'll leave LA on Friday and arrive in Vancouver on the 17th!:sneaky:

It is what it is! There's nothing you can do about it but give yourself an ulcer! Once they have your stuff, what are you going to do? At the end of the day, when your stuff finally turns up, are you really going to have the time or inclination to take a complaint any further?

It just gets worse!
When my goods left the UK, they were scheduled to arrive in Vancouver on Friday the 26th.
Now, due to a trucker shortage in LA, apparently, my container didn't get moved after its inspection in time to make the boat is was scheduled on this Saturday and now has to wait until Thursday for loading -so it won't arrive in Vancouver until the 10th of October.
Meanwhile, I'm now waiting for a bill for the demmurage charges :(
What a ridiculous system!

We were stuck with a huuuuge bill to pay back in April when the trucker strike was taking place, the company handling the goods in Vancouver charged us a daily fee to hold the goods until the strike ended which was about 2 weeks after our goods arrived. I feel your pain

Finally got our stuff back on Tuesday!
The moving company on this end, Brytor, was fantastic at least.

Re: Container coming from UK to Canada -pulled by US customs?!

Our container came from Portugal (where we moved from) through Panama with MSC to Vancouver. The agent in Portugal somehow had it as being shipped (door to door service) to some random address/postcode in Vancouver (like we would supply a totally incorrect address??). Didn't know the incorrect address was on the bill of lading until after the container had shipped and we were emailed a copy. Whilst the container was still at sea I pointed out that the bill of lading was incorrect and that it should show our address we supplied on Vancouver island.... The agent in Portugal would not honour the original door to door quote as they said Quote: 'People make mistakes sometimes but we will not pay for your container to be shipped to your home address from Vancouver'. It eventually cost us another $2300 (if I recall correctly), over and above the original quote, to have the container shipped from Vancouver to Vancouver island. They had us by the Goolies and they knew it! The choices were: Cough up right away to get our stuff, or argue the toss, rack up storage fees at Vanterm in the meantime and then still cough up to get our stuff!!
