I am thinking of re-training in construction for immigration jobs potential in canada, any advice on the highest skills shortage jobs in Canada, and best qualifications to get,

I am thinking of training in canada, to get on-campus work visa to keep me going,

Any advice appreciated.

Welders ,plumbers, pipefitters boilermakers, electricians, carpenters are all in high demand.
You will need Canadian apprenteship papers for any trade, this involves 4yrs of schooling.

well, that bites, considering alot of trades people coming from UK,
However, I'am contacting BCIT in vancouver, to do some certificate courses,
Any ideas on the sectors most in demand, and courses highly respected?

Any good websites for construction jobs willing to apply for work visas?

Cheers

The list of occupations under pressure in BC is here. As you can see, there are plenty of trades occupations listed.

BCIT is the place. Start with the entry level trades training foundation course, then apply for apprenticeship places with employers.

One question is whether they'll still be in demand in four years. Many of the new houses around here are being bought by speculators rather than actual local working people, so if the Canadian mini-bubble in housing bursts there may be a lot of empty houses around.

On the plus side, with such a high immigration rate there's always going to be a decently sized need for new houses across the country so there'll always be some level of construction work.
