Great link...thanks!
With the income we have now we would be $500 better off every month just simply by being in Ontario! Madness!!!! The GST is lower too!

Come East.
Newfoundland. Buoyant economy*. Lower taxes than NS. Still has that Maritime/Ocean vibe. More fiddle music than you know what to do with. No prairie winters. Lots of fog!
* In the St. John's area at least.

I would consider it other than the job situation! I fear that jobs in my OHs field would be no easier to find than in NS

Re: Considering a move, NS to AB
ExKiwilass can I ask you what exactly it is you have against Nova Scotia? Have you been here? If so how long have you spent here to be so negative about the province?
FYI my reason for considering a move is because OH is not happy in his job. There are not many options available here or in any other province so he has to go where the job is. At the moment there is one job in Ontario which he is considering although we are genuinely hoping something else comes up in NS, even in a different part of the province as in the 2 years we have been here we have been very happy.

I don't have anything against NS per se, more the amount of BS about it on this board. It's refreshing to read some honesty about it ala this thread but as predicted, those who are in denial won't like it. To me the amount of positive rah rah BS is directly proportionate to how crap it really is. For instance, plenty of people slag off BC. or Ontario. And even those who are happy there agree (me, for example). But this seems to be VERBOTEN for NS.
Funny that.

NS is not for everybody, for sure, but it doesn't make it a bad place.
Yes the opportunities are harder to come by, so maybe NS attracts a certain type of immigrant, the type that still has an adventurous spirit.
In our case, you might have seen me post a question about the Toronto area. Because of the nature of my husbands job if he wants to change we would have to relocate... It has nothing to do with us wanting to leave NS...

I could suggest that you just don't go there...but I'm fairly sure I know the reply will be along the lines of "no bloody fear!".
I went there (NS) for a few weeks some years ago, on a recce trip, and I liked it well enough, and may go back. I liked PEI too, but would have serious reservations about living there. I have also lived in TO for several years, and although I liked some of it a lot, I wouldn't want to live there again. But I don't feel the need to berate anyone else who likes any of those places more than I do. "Denialists" just isn't fair.
