Conjugal Partner - my status/timeline

Hi everyone,

Since the OP2 Manual has finally been released, I thought I would post my progress thus far. Feel free to reply with questions and or other info you have to offer. Experts, feel free to comment since I'm sure I'm not the only one expressing interest in the conjugal partner category on this board....

I am American, my fiancee is Canadian, and I am currently in Canada on a study permit while attending law school. While I carefully read every CIC and newsgroup item I could find in preparing this app, I did not have any professional assistance.

Applications delivered to CPC Mississauga - 8/2/02
CPC-M began working on sponsorship app - 8/26/02
Decision Made (affirmative) and letter sent - 9/4/02

I guess my app is on to Buffalo now where the real scrutiny begins.

Processing time looks very good a vast improvment.

As you say the real test is going ot be in Buffalo. They wil no doubt interview you
so dont be surprised if it is sent to Deroit for scrutiny. Keep us posted on the
results. Good Luck

Mr. Metcalfe,

When, in theory, should I receive my forms for completing the medical from CIC? At what point in the process?

Thanks,
McGill

A decision will be made first about whether an interview is required. After that you should get the stuff through for medicals. How long? Who knows?

I submitted my app 16th July 2002, my sponsor received AOR on 15th August saying she was accepted as sponsor and my file was being sent to London. I received my AOR from CHC London on 4th Sept. So far, so good. Same as you didn't use any professional services but went through about 10 sets of forms before I got it all right!

going from someone else on a similar route on the new process, you should
recieve an AOR from buffalo to say its started beign processed, then medical
paper after that.
