Company benefits for part time employees
I'm trying to, hopefully, arrange benefits for our members of staff. We work for a part time recruitment company. Not sure where to start other than with companies such as Manulife, Sunlife or Great Western Life.
Other things to consider are:-
This isn't for full time employees.
The people we need to cover only work between 50 and 80 hrs every couple of weeks.
It's classed as an industrial establishment although it is in the entertainment industry.
It's to cover between 30 and 50 employees.
I've looked into the 50% option. Would that seem a feasible/acceptable amount to try and aim towards with regards to part time employees?
Cheers
Beanie

I don't know what you mean by 50%
I work part-time and am classed as permanent part-time, meaning averaged out I work 24hrs a week min .
I get all the usual benefits such as sick pay, critical illness cover etc LTD and Life insurance, all worked out on my salary (ie earnings).
I opt not to take the medical and dental benefits and this means I get money put into an HCSA; the amount is dependant on my earnings.
I could have elected for any of the other 3 levels of coverage for dental and medical, the same as a full-time employee and I would pay the same as them.

Most Chambers of Commerce can give you access to a national pooled benefit scheme. For small employers it is often a cheaper option than the claim specific policies the likes of Manulife offer. In BC the independant contractors association also offer a value for money pooled scheme option.

Save your money and offer no benefits? I must be the exception even when full-time I haven't found a company that offers benefits.

I am permanent full time, or hope I am, as I've only been at it three months, but I get Blue Cross for health and dental, and gym membership and a wellness scheme, which means I get an extra weeks holiday if I go to the gym. I work from 9 till 2 so 25 hours per week.

Just an FYI so every man and his dog who works full time with benefits posts almost identical posts.

I love that benefit. What a way to motivate the staff... Although what if you are disabled and can't use the gym? Does that mean you don't get the extra vacation which surely would then be discrimination?

It's a small company, and were there anyone disabled I am fairly confident it would be sorted. It's the first time I've ever heard of it, but it seems a great incentive. Also, it's an amount of money allocated twice a year, so you can use it for a personal trainer, gym equipment at home, or the local gym, yoga etc. I think it's a super idea, but only having started here 3 months ago, I'm not sure how it all works in practice yet.
