Comox, Vancouver Island bound eventually

We are Claire and Paul (almost 40 !) with two sons Aged 3 1/2 and 6 who are waiting for our PR. We applied as skilled workers in Jan 2005 and hope to be moving in 2007 ! We've have visited BC over the past 8 years and have decided Comox Valley is the place we want to be; with the coast, lakes and mountains all on our doorstep. Paul has visions of snowboarding/ mountain biking and waterskiing all day long but he is a software developer/ consultant which he hopes to continue with remotely. Has anyone else moved to this area ?

Take 80% of what you read here with several pinches of salt and you'll be fine. :p

Hi Claire, just seen your thread. I am just north of you in Campbell River and have been here since October. How are your plans going? :)

Hi - we applied Jan 05 skilled worker - were due to hear Sept 06 but were delayed to Oct 07 but on 8/12 we were asked to update our file with police checks/ funds within 90 days, so we're not quite sure if that means they will be looking at our file in Feb or Oct still or somewhen in between ! we can't wait to get over, had enough of the UK and just love Canada, Vancouver Island in particular. I see from your profile you have 3 daughters, how old are they ? and how are they getting on ? what jobs do you and your other half do ? How have you found the move ? sorry for all the questions ! We have two boys who are 3 1/2 and 6, i'm a full time mum at the moment - my husband Paul is in IT - he has his own software development company over here, which he hopes to continue remotely and also get work in Canada. We spent a month in the Comox Valley summer 05 and visited Campbell River, which is a great spot too. What attracted you to CR ?
Happy Christmas to you all Claire

Hi Claire, we came as entrepeneurs in Oct and have to open a business here. We found an opportunity in CR which we are not now going to do! So we had to find something else which we have now done. Our business will open at the start of next year in Black Creek which is between here and CR. There was another guy on recently, Tom or Tam in Kilmarnock who was looking for similar to you in VI so perhaps you can contact him too.
My girls have all started school and settled well in CR. They have joined groups and taken skating lessons and are making friends. They are 13, 11 and nearly 6 in age. I have been a full time mum mostly but I want a little job now. I will be bookeeping for our business so I may try to expand that. Hope you all have a great Christmas, please ask any questions I can help with and pm me or e mail if you prefer. ;)
