Collecting websites
 

As we only have two travel agents here in Swift Current and one of them is a CAA one(not a member), apart from expedia.ca does anyone know of some holiday websites? I don't even know any Canadian tour op's so any info appreciated.

ITA Software is a great web site for comparing air fares.

I often use Travelocity to compare rates for rental cars.

Although I use Expedia and Travelocity to compare prices, I often try to make reservations directly with an airline or hotel's own web site.

Oh yes, I also have had some satisfactory results from reserving flights through SEARStravel.ca .

I've seen on Internet travel discussion boards that some travellers have obtained fabulous hotel rates through Priceline. They say that, before you bid through Priceline, you should read about the process at Bidding for Travel and Better Bidding .

Seat Guru is a great web site for looking at the seat layout of a plane on which you're going to fly. It helps you to identify the best and worst seats so that you can try to get the former and avoid the latter.

Internet travel discussion forums can be very helpful. There is a section on that right here at British Expats. I also like Fodor's and TripAdvisor.

Which Budget is a good web site for information on budget airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet, Zoom, Air Transat and the like.

Government web sites, e.g., Canadian Tourism Commission and its provincial counterparts, publish excellent information. In addition to viewing their information on the Internet, you can order free maps and travel guides such as those that Tourism British Columbia and Travel Alberta offer. American states have similar web sites. If you're travelling to another continent, you can get information from the consulate of your destination country.

A BIG THANK YOU!!!! sooooo much. This will keep me outa mischief for hours (which is no mean feat :eek: ). My thanks too to wizzard....every website collected is information for either now or later ;)
