Cochrane Information Trip
 

Hi, We are coming to Cochrane later this month for a long weekend to look at a few houses for possible relocation later this year and to visit Olds College Program Day with our Daughter.

We'd like to visit some local (not chain) restaurants....are there any recommendations for great steak, fish & chips, pizza, family style home cooking restaurant? Maybe a country/western Bar?

Thanks in advance for your replies...we'd like to experience life as we would if we were living there. We hope to look at a few houses one afternoon.....can hardly wait...I'll be counting down the days.

Hi Little Beaver. There's loads of restaurants here in Cochrane. For steak, there's the Canyon Rose which will also give you the western feel you're perhaps after. It also has the Saloon Bar right next door. The Blue Dog Cafe is very popular, often having live entertainment in the evenings too. If you like a good curry, Jaipur is excellent.

We love olive r twist, blue dog is hit and miss depending on who's in the kitchen it seems!
Canyon rose is definately a great local place and gives you character, foods pretty good in there, the Sunday brunch is awesome!
Jaipur is fab for indian!
We also love coto for Japanese, always had a good meal here! Portofino does a good italian meal!
Guys cafe is great for lunch, with delish homemade sandwiches and soups, and is a real locals place plus coffee traders is great!
I can highly recommend a cow cookie in traders!!!

Olds college is supposed to be fab, and I would love to take in their open day one year, as I spent a great four years at ag college in the uk!

If u fancy a cuppa when u r in town, give me a shout! Cochrane is an amazing community, where everyone looks out for each other, and six years on it hasn't lost it's appeal for us!
