Re: Clotted Cream watch
The jar stuff is double cream not clotted. Tastes yuck, processed
PS a clotted cream watch wouldn't work very well would it? It would be all runny on your wrist.

I've not seen it in Superstore/Loblaws or Sobeys. I'll look again.
$6? Sounds a bargain even if only enough for one half of a scone. Or tea biscuit as they like to call them here.

I've had clotted and double cream in jars, and thought the clotted was better as it generally has that slightly 'cooked' taste anyway. Would still love a nice pouring double cream with no milk/seaweed/miscellaneous additives though.

Mom has a jar in the fridge but we haven't broken into it yet... can't remember offhand if it's clotted or double. I'll check tonight.
Edit: Just saw Zoe's pic. That's what's in our fridge.

I ordered one off Amazon marketplace last year. Usually when there's something they can't send to Canada you get a message saying so.
I still never expected it to arrive but I hoped it would be small enough to make it.
It didn't, but then it didn't cost me anything as they - Amazon, not the seller - refunded.

Re: Clotted Cream watch
Hi
Clotted cream is not allowed to be imported into canada, due to the way it is made.
un treated milk is not allowed
however the jar shown is sold in most safeway and save on foods store here in BC, and a few other stores
It aint clotted cream but it is the nearest you can get here, it is actually not all that bad, unless you know a dairy farmer and try making your own
cheers

If it was simply "near" the real thing and therefore legal, why package it up so it looks illegal? That would draw attention to it at the import stage.

Hi
Best to check on the bottle when you buy it.
but un treated milk products are banned in canada
to make it look like the real thing ?
so us brits buy it.
canadian customs read the label of ingredients, which is why so much brit stuff is seized at the moment due to the fortified flour
cheers

Re: Clotted Cream watch
True clotted cream was made using unpasteurized milk, the cream imported into Canada is pasteurized which is why it can be sold here. The only reason they pasteurize it is so they can sell it abroad, as when you make clotted cream you are super heating it so killing bacteria anyway so pasteurizing the milk before hand is pointless unless you want to export it.
