City & Guilds are they recognised??

We have applied on skilled workers visa, and are still waiting on decisions. We were wondering if City & Guilds qualifications were recognised in Nova Scotia, as City & Guilds claim they are recognised throughout the world.

If they are not can anyone suggest how we would go about gaining Canadian equivalents.

Thanks

Hi Charlie,

I have seen City & Guilds mentioned in the immigration forum a couple of times and IIRC they are not recognised - but I'm not there so i don't know for sure, might be worth a search on this site.

As for Canadian equivalents, well if you are in an apprenticeship trade, then as I understand it, if you have enough experience you can apply to sit an equivalency exam, which if you pass you will be fully qualified there.

Hope that helps. :)

Steve

Edit: have a look at this thread.

Hello Steve

Thanks for your reply, sorry to sound dumb, but can you tell me what the initials IIRC stand for.

Many Thanks
Ann
