Citizenship Timeline

Hi All,

At last time has come for me to apply for my citizenship. I am living in Mississauga, I was wondering could you please tell me about your experiences how long does it take nowadays. Today one of my friend told me that it took only two months for him.

Thanks

That sounds a bit quick. Mine took about a year from application to swearing at a judge.

You need to have been living in Canada for a minimum of 1095 days (3 years) during the four years leading up to the application. You need to take into account any trips outside Canada. I believe that time spent living in Canada during that period before becoming a PR can also be counted.

It counts as half but there is a limit to how much can be claimed.
