Re: citizenship exam........

When we took it it was a breeze (long time ago though). Read the book, do the online sample test and should be no problem.

After the test, I asked the attendant if there was a pass mark, she said no there was not. My reply, 'so if you get a few wrong it's OK', her response, 'it depends on what you get wrong'. No idea how we did, but we have our Canadian passports, so guess we did OK. Not sure if they make it up as they go along. Has anyone failed the test and been called in for an interview?

Just did the test for the heck of it and got 48 out of 50.

I've never done any studying for the test and citizenship (if we go for it) is a long way off having been here only a year. However I did 50 of the questions in the sample test link and scored 47. Many of them were answered based upon me helping my daughter with her grade 7 social studies!

That all depends in what capacity you are living here. It is possible for people to reside here permanently without knowing any of this. Many people in Canada do not have a high proficiency in either of the official languages and I would be very surprised if they had the slightest clue about how Canada was formed. I agree that the questions seem quite simple for someone who is planning to become a citizen, but many who live here are not.

I don't understand that. Unless things have changed somewhat in the past two years, the passmark is 12/20 and there are only a couple of questions you must get right.

True. I tried out the practice text on Souvette and she didn't do well. I can't think of a single member of her family that would pass.
