Hello.

BE was a great resource and full of helpful people during my PR application process. IT is time for me to start thinking about applying for Citizenship and I have some questions again.

I am trying to calculate my days. Below I will list my time in Canada over the last 4 years.

Bunac visa 02 August 2009 - 01 August 2010
I then remained in country on a visitor visa from 02august 2010 - 01st august 2011
"landed" PR 01august 2011 - now

So what I need to know is on the Residency calculator can I input 02august 2009 for the question "*Enter the date when you first came to Canada to live" even though I was just on a visitor visa for a year of it?

Yes, although the calculator will only count time in the last 4 years, and time before PR landing will only count for 50% of its real value.

Thankyou for your quick reply so just to confirm time before PR landing is still eligible even if i was just a visitor?

Yes, its worth half time. Like being on a work permit, but without all the work:)

It's not 'that' expensive though when you consider how much everything else costs for Immigration.

well I was basing the expensiveness of the "price to form" ratio. I feel I had to fill out a lot more forms for the money with the PR. haha

While I am here does anyone know the simplest route to get the English proficiency test done?

Thanks for those links, I had read those I was just wondering if anyone had personal experience with any of them and which seemed easiest/quickest/cheapest

Surely the easiest route is option 2...

Proof of completion of secondary or post-secondary education in French or English includes:
A diploma or transcripts from a secondary or post-secondary school indicating the successful completion of a program, in Canada or abroad. or
A diploma or certificate from a secondary or post-secondary school indicating successful graduation, in Canada or abroad.
Note:You must have successfully finished a secondary or post-secondary program in English or French. A single course done in English or French does not meet the requirement. The diploma, certificate or transcript should be in English or French. The document must clearly show that the program was completed with English or French as the language of instruction. If the original document is not in English or French then you must also include a letter in English or French from the institution indicating that the language of instruction was in English or French along with a translation of the original document.

You didn't leave the country once in all that time? No vacations to Mexico? No going back to blighty to visit friends and family? No border runs to the states?

You need to account for every single day you were out of the country. Then add some more in for good measure.

I had 37 days out of country including 2 trips to england and one to the states. which I inputted.

I also had a border run and a couple of day trips to the states, but if less than 24 hours they do not need to be included.
