Just thought about the pros and cons of xmas in Canada vs UK
Canada - we usually have a white xmas
UK - is there is snaow is generally slushy muck a couple of inches deep
UK - despite the critics I did enjoy the Xmas TV, James Bond Movies, Xmas specials
Canada - doesn't seem very different at xmas
UK - most people had holidays for teh entire xmas week
Canada - Usually its just a couple of days off ?
UK - pantomine season
Canada - Is there something similar - haven't seen it myself
anyone think of other?

This year we have nine members of her family coming to stay <sobs> plus numerous animals. If BIL stays true to form, we will have at least one drunken row.
The Mrs and I will be ensuring that our employers do not give us any extra time off over Christmas. Then, at New Year, we go to the MIL's and do it all over again.
As usual, I will be adopting my strategy of defensive unilingualism.

Pantomime is a lot of fun, and watching people like frank bruno, peggy from eastenders and others.

I'm in the UK and I get 2 days off for xmas and 1 day for new years, but I'm in the office in between.
As for pantomimes...could just be I'm too cynical, but my dad took me to my first pantomime when I was about 11-ish (I had a friend in it), and we both were dying to leave by the end...absolutely hated it. I was actually embarrassed at the behaviour of the adults in the audience (particularly the little old lady next to me who got all worked up when I wouldn't look under my seat to see if there was an x...long story).
