Hi,we're flying out on the 1st Dec so will be in Calgary for Christmas .Not having any relatives or friends to dump ourselves on for the day plus the fact that i'm bone idle,we'd really like to go out for Christmas day lunch.Pretty common place in the UK but after googling various combinations I can't seem to find a nice restaurant or hotel that is open.Is it not the done thing in Canada?Can anyone recommend or suggest anywhere?

There are a few places that offer a Christmas lunch, generally hotels. I'm not familiar with Calgary so can't make any informed recommendations, but you could check out the more prominent hotels - maybe the Palliser? I think it is part of the Fairmont group www.fairmont.com
