Christmas Break and working
Hi all,
My son living in the UK is looking to visit his Canadian partner for Christmas but hasn't enough leave so would he be able to work remotely for his UK employer on a visitor visa and would there be any tax implications
TIA

There certainly won’t be any tax implications if it’s just a short break, as he won’t be there long enough to become tax resident. Whether he can work on a visitor visa will depend on what he does and who his employer is (i.e. if they have any Canadian presence). So more info is needed to answer that - it may be best to ask him to join the forum so that he can give more info?

Re: Christmas Break and working
If he is using his laptop to (remotely) perform his ordinary duties for his UK-based employer for his UK-based job and will continue to be compensated in GBP, deposited to his UK-based bank, there is no issue whatsoever.
It is only even conceivably an issue, if in some way that work *requires* him to be in Canada to perform it, or starts to be paid for by some Canadian employer.
