Mrs D speaking, one for you moms out there in Calgary, where are the best places to buy childrens clothes from at reasonable prices? :D

Hello Mrs D.....I can't speak about exclusive stores in Calgary personally, but if it's "chainstore" clothing, then pretty much Canada wide, I can recommend Gap Kids, Sears, Winners, Old Navy, Zellers, The Bay.....and yes, even humble Walmart!! My favourites are Old Navy and Zellers.....their quality is superb and prices are v.reasonable.

hi there , not sure about specific places either ,
but on the whole , we are surely spoilt , by asda, jjb sports , primark etc ,
i am already stocking up on clothes for myself and hubby ,
and my sister is doing the same for her son (aged 8 ) even doubling up in the next sizes ,
in my experience , canada is more expensive and the style we are used to is hard to find .......
i had to buy trainers in n.s last year , and they set me back over £40 for nikes , and believe me i shopped around
but when i can pick them up for £14 (jjb sports ) i am deff gonna do that

Its not just mums who go shopping for the kids you know :mad:

Walmart, Zellers etc are cheap and will last at least until they are outgrown. Better yet are the countless "consignment" stores selling previously enjoyed stuff for next to nothing, often more upmarket brands like Oshkosh etc.

Old Navy is owned by Gap I think, and is reasonable quality at a lot less than Gap prices. Its only just arrived in my town mall.

Kids dont care about label here nearly as much, so why spend the extra for new name brand stuff thats just going to get trashed anyway. For new stuff we prefer Zellers as at least its Canadian owned, matches Walmart for value and doesnt screw over its workers to quite the same extent. They also dont seem to build outside the city limits like Walmart do to try and avoid city taxes, which of course is what helps finance the nice communities we live in.

What can I say, I dont like the way walmart does business.

Of course the style you are used to is not the style here, so if you want to look like a tourist go ahead and buy up in the UK.

Isnt Zellers HBC owned? Didnt HBC get bought up by some foriegner???

Perhaps. Still, more canadian that Walmart will ever be. Not a lot of choice at the discount superstore end of the market. I guess Ill have to do all my shopping at Giant Tiger now!

Zucker was born in Israel...but at least part owns a hockey team....cant get more canadian than that? even if he is a Yank.

Anyway back on Topic.
I must agree about looking like a tourist wearing 'UK' clothes.
You can always spot the 'recent' arrivals downtown even if they trying to dress in a 'North American Styleee'

Its a hockey team.

As you know, no true US citizen gives a damn about hockey, so he must have some residual connection to Canada. :D

Besides, why else would he buy the HBC...its not like its a money making proposition, its just a piece of canadian history..in fact it predates Canada doesnt it..."Here Before Christ" etc.
