Childcare Canada

Hi! I am a newbie, my partner and I have just been accepted onto the Working Holiday Visa programme in Canada (hurrah!) and are currently deciding between Vancouver or Calgary.
He's an engineer so I think he'll be ok job wise- I however work in childcare and would like to do the same over there.
My question is...can anyone tell me in simple terms what the childcare system is like in both cities? I presume they have nurseries but I would like to know what they are like to work in? I know I need to register, is that process hard? Do all nurseries have to follow the same framwork (i.e. like the EYFS in the UK) and are they accountable to one body (like Ofsted).
Any information is very much welcome!

1. I know nothing about the child care industry, but note that you will need a medical from a DMP before you can work in child card. So you should contact CHC London before you leave or Vegreville when you arrive.

"You may need a satisfactory medical assessment to obtain a work permit if:

you wish to work in facilities where it is important to protect public health, such as:
health services;
child care;
primary or secondary education; OR"
