Default child care and child benefit

I am completing the application for permanent residence through the federal skilled workers route, my daughter will be coming with me she is 21 with a 2 week old baby who will be older by the time the visa comes. we just wondered what would be in place for her untill she finds employment ie child benefit or child care or any other benefit?
thanks

Little or nothing at first. Im not even sure she would qualify for the $100 a month (until age 6) taxable universal child benefit until after the first tax return is posted.

Might be worth searching terms like CCTB and UCB to drag up old threads, and of course there is the usual governement websites on those topics too...

specifically

Once she lands a job there is some tax relief on child care expenses, but its not that great, and has some conditions attached.

ohhhhh never mind, we do have a good amount of funds initially but obviously we dont want to keep her forever, as our funds wont last. my husband and i have excellent job prospects but our daughter needs to be independant which would include child care and getting a job.

thanks for replying

I'm all in favour of people applying for stuff that they're eligible for, but these are the kind of questions that get people in the UK so riled up about "immigrants".

I find it a bit distasteful when people are asking about benefits etc before they even arrive.

Good question. I'm probably completely incorrect but i thought once your child has their own child they are no longer seen as dependant?

If you have a kid and no income dont you think its kind of important to know where you stand.

Hmm, not sure about the whole grand child thing, I suspect you are right and the OPs daughter and granddaughter may not be directly eligible due to that?

Not sure if this is a correct quote but according to CIC:

You must provide financial support for a dependent child for 10 years, or until the child turns 25, whichever comes first.

So the OP's daughter, if eligible for a visa, would not be entitled to benefits for a few years.

My concern is how is the grandchild to get to canada in the first place?

Not sure that grandparents can sponsor directly, so even if they can sponsor their daughter, she would then have to apply for her child after she got her own PR perhaps?

Seems complicated to me, it could even be that having a child in a relationship may make her no longer eligable as a "dependent". If shes a single parent shes probably dependent, but a quick look hasnt helped me find out what the status of her child would be... Maybe Im over complicating things, who knows.

Now we're PR - we should probably apply for these....

Question is - should I apply or should the wife? Or does it make no difference?

Ok - that'll be the wife then....

Makes no difference really since it'll be me that has to fill in the application, only using her name!

sorry to confuse everyone, my exact staus is that we began the immigration proces prior to my daughter being pregnant, she is currently 30 weeks pregnant(i was thinking of my other daughter who had a baby 2 weeks ago she is not coming) our canadian attorney informed us that the application form did not mention pregnancy. therefore we can continue as planned but once the baby is born we will need consent of the father for us to progress, she currently still lives at home with us.

regarding benefits we as a family have never claimed benefits in this country, and do not intend to do it while in another country it was just the initial few months for my daughter while the baby would be so young prior to her gaining employment.

The overriding question is can you add a grandchild to your application?

Edit; I've looked and family members can include the dependent child of a dependent child. So that's good.
