Re: Child Benefit
Depending on income there's a federal part and a provincial part.

Re: Child Benefit
For 2 kids I get 200 bucks a month and I understand that everyone gets 100 per kid- Not sure if thats federal or provincial and the wifes not here to ask - There are other types of child benefit that are salary dependant

Not everyone, they have to be under 6 for UCCB. How much you get for CTB also depends on ages and income.

Re: Child Benefit
Just to answer my own question . . .
4. Can I get the Canada Child Tax Benefit? To be eligible, you must meet all the following conditions: * you must live with the child, and the child must be under the age of 18; * you must be the person who is primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child; o This means you are responsible for such things as supervising the child's daily activities and needs, making sure the child's medical needs are met, and arranging for child care when necessary. If there is a female parent who lives with the child, we usually consider her to be this person. However, it could be the father, a grandparent, or a guardian. * you must be a resident of Canada; and * you or your spouse or common-law partner must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person, or a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month. |

Re: Child Benefit
I read that new PR families were entitled to these child benefits straight away and it was worked out on your previous years earnings, ie your UK earnings.

Re: Child Benefit
An interesting choice of words, entitled or eligible.
When we are in the UK we tend to use "entitled", after being here for a while the word used is "eligible". |
