Default Cheap phonecalls UK to Canada

I just used a service called telediscount that offers an amazing 2p/min to a Canadian standard line or a Canadian registered mobile at any time.
I have also used simply-call who offered 4p/min. This provided a better connection in that there was no time delay at all.
What's the best you guys have discovered with price and service?

I just read this back.... please answer the above question regarding telephones only

My sister (in Canada) has a very good long distance plan, so when I want to talk to her, I email her, ask her to call me and then I just pay her back.

I have been using a piece of software called skype. The software is a voice over the internet product which allows voice calls to and from users the internet via the software. It also allows computer to phone calls for very reasonable amount.

The software is free and available from www.skype.com, it is also very clear and ~I have found no noticable deifference in quality to my BT line.

This looks amazing. Why hasn't this caught on or is it very new?

It's very new, we have been testing it for our company and have had 4 way international conference calls using bluetooth mobile phone headsets and a bluetooth dongle with no lag or distortion.

Hi,

I've been using skype for some time now and found it absolutely great when using pc2pc function. However, I tried to purchase the skypeout credit i.e. upload the money to be able to call land-line numbers via skype and my credit cards get rejected all the time. The ccs are good and are from two major canadian banks. I approached skype, but they seem to be unable to trace the problem. The CC company tells me that there is no problem on their side and skype, on the other hand, blame the CC company for rejecting the transactions.

dougee, I was wandering if you had any problems with buying the skype out credits and if you used canadian ccs for this.

Thanks,
Bud.

Hi Bud

I had no problem registering my cc details from the UK. The only confusing thing is the costs are shown in Euros. I am not sure if they accept Paypal or not.

You're right but trying to get my parents to buy a computer is the first hurdle!
No silver surfers round here!
Also seeing images of me can be distressing unless properly sedated

The phonycalls are still cheap. It's the hardware that's expensive.
