Cheap Caribbean vacation

Hi Folks,

Looking for an all inclusive vacation to some place sunny. Planning to travel in the end of August. Which are the cheapest options? For example is a vacation to Bahamas way more expensive than Cuba. That would help me narrow down my search on the various websites.

Cheers

Depending on your location charter flights from Canada to sunnier climes do not really start until November ie Sunwing, Westjet, AC and Transat etc.
Cuba is relatively cheap compared to other locations and you need to do your research on accommodations. A Cuban 4 star may equate to a North American 2 star.

There's always the Dominican Republic and not all prices for Mexico are high.

Is there nowhere in Florida or up the coast a bit where one can have a nice relaxing beach type holiday?

I checked out a few pictures and a lot look a bit like Benidorm but if there are smaller, nicer places in Spain, maybe in America too?

We've been to Riviera Maya 4 times and I can highly recommend the Grand Palladium Hotel. Would always go back there.
We've also been to Cuba several times, but it's really changed in recent years, so I wouldn't go back there again.

But I would mostly recommend Costa Rica. We went to Flamingo Beach (west coast, you fly into Liberia) a couple of times and that's just out of this world. Really quiet place, not at all a 'resorty' feeling. Unless things have changed.

We would meet a lot of Canadians on our holidays, and a lot of them would use applevacations, sunwing, air transat holidays, etc.

The Carribean is way too hot and humid in August, as is Florida. Plus there is a risk of hurricanes. Canadians usually head down that way during the winter months.

Last year we were in Miami and around the western Caribean (Grand Caymen, Hondurous, Cozumel and Belize) and it was pretty hot in mid April.

When living back in the UK, I once went to Orlando in July and found the heat and humidity stifling.

I don't know where in Canada you live, but in August Toronto is sunnier than Cozumel/Riviera Maya.

Summer holidays abroad just don't make much sense when you live in SE Ontario, weather-wise... Possibly true of Vancouver as well.

Yup. Why would you want to miss a Vancouver summer? Lots of people head to Mexico when the weather is cool and wet here and hot and dry there - December, January and Februry. South West Coast Mexico is unbearably hot and humid April to September.

Agree with comments about the weather. We normally holidayed in May and October and May was usually unbearable, while October was very pleasant. I wouldn't worry about the hurricane season. We've been to those areas 8 years in a row now in October and never had any problems. OK, we nearly missed a hurricane on two occasions, but it's just the risk you take.

Hi,

Which is the best and safest place to vacation in Cuba. Is it Varadero?

Thanks.

All of Cuba is safe. Varadero is probably the most visited resort area as it has the most hotels. Cuba is definitely not Mexico and probably one of the safest countries in the world.
BTW the beach at Varadero is excellent.
