Changing to married name
Hi there
I just got married last week and would like to use my husbands surname. I want to change the name on my passport and PR card but was wondering is there an order to do this in? I think the PR card is issued using the name on your passport so this should be first? Just looking for some clarification! Also, I will be renewing my British passport from Canada, as I understand it I will have to do this via Washington in the states? Has anyone had experience of this, know timescales etc? Im a bit worried about how long it takes to get my passport back then to change my PR card, im assuming having both in different names would be a headache if I wanted to travel! Thanks for any help with this! |

Your new passport will likely take anywhere from 4-12 weeks from posting of the application to your receipt.
