Central heating radiators

Hi,

Any tips on where to buy radiators at a reasonable price in BC?

Thanks

Bartle & Gibson.

They may be costly though, likley a special order item. Sub floor heating is coming in a bit now. Radiators are a thing of the past.

Radiators are an ugly addition to your decor. They’re really only good for overnight drying of your socks and smalls.

About 30 years ago I tore out the monster furnace in my basement, along with all the ductwork throughout the house. I did so because I was sick of the noise and the dust circulated by the warm air heating.

Then I called in a heating engineering outfit who installed a small gas fired hot water boiler-about 2'x2' footprint. The concealed heating pipes took up a fraction of the room the ugly ductwork did.

This system allowed accurate individual room temperature control, and I no longer got sore throats from dried out air.

I was offered pressed steel radiators from the UK and Germany, but I chose small, refurbished Canadian column radiators. Lovely.

I quite like radiators. Slimline ones are good in hallways. You can dry more than 'smalls' using them too ;)

Colours can easily match or complement your decor. The big school type ones are kind of reassuring.

The only time they might not 'suit' is when they'be be on a wall that you'd like a sofa to be against, but that would likely be in a room where you could have a fireplace - real or other - anyway.

The various vents needed for other heating systems are not the prettiest things either mind (or even convenient) although they are more useful for cooling than radiators.
