Re: Cars for new arrivals...
Got really bored of looking for a small engined hatchback. Ended up walking into the first dealer I had met and bought a Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon

I had a WRX 300 (05) and it was great fun at 0-60 in 4.8, it was rapid. The wagons look horrid though.

Re: Cars for new arrivals...
Anybody bought a 7 seater Ford Freestyle (2005-07)?
I've heard some good things about these and was wondering what experience others have had with them.
And does anybody know whether a Ford warranty can still be purchased for these (because over 3yrs old)?

I didn't realise that recent Saturn cars over here (though I think they are gone this year?) are actually Vauxhalls brought over and rebadged. They are some nice looking cars and a great price - especially used Astras as people didnt want nice, cool, practical, small, interesting, fun to drive cars here. Hey, why have a hatch when you can have a boot?
The 3 door hatchbacks look great IMO and I think are good value when you look what the identical car fetches in the UK. Definitely something I would think about buying.
I would still never own an SUV, truck or mini-van....

Whilst I would be happy with a Golf, if there are so few is the fuel itself normally available at gas stations?

My wife has one and she loves it. We've had it a year and it's been a good car (I think ours is an 05 model). Apparently they didn't sell well because you can't tow much with them, but other than that I'd buy one again

Saturns were to no longer be sold in Canada past the end of the year. Now I think the whole deal to sell Saturn to Penske has fallen through. In any event, value of a used Saturn Astra will continue to plummet. You will be able to get spares and service support for 10 years from GM dealers allegedly. So it's either a good buy or a reason to avoid!
