Career Change
Anyone know of anywhere in BC or Alberta that does intensive short training courses for plumbing, electrics, etc?
OH thinking of a career change, but doesn't want to spend years training. Lots of available courses in UK, wondering if there are any in Canada. We have PR and due to land in the new year. He has been a builder all his life, so this is not exactly new to him but needs qualifications. Thanks all.:) |
Re: Career Change
I don't think there are any short courses that are useful in BC. The only relevant qualification is a journeyman's ticket and you get this through a four/five year apprenticeship. A qualified tradesman from the UK can get advanced standing and challenge the exams, but they still have to prove they have put in the necessary hours.

You will need to prove that you have at least 7000hrs also in the trade and they can check the records on this, so unless you have done your apprentaship and done the hours in the uk, then you will have to go back into training here for 4/5 yrs with low pay  |
