How much of a discount should I be expecting from advertised MRSP when purchasing a new car ?

Get one of the reports that tells you the dealers invoice price and go from there.

Its really a "how long is a piece of string" questions. On a compact like a civic there is probably no more than a grand to negotiate off, if that. On an upmarket import thats been sitting on the lot there might be five digits.....

I agree with Iain. If it's of any help, here's what I've haggled off new vehicle prices here:

Mazda 3GT $1,800
Ford F150 $7,000
Subaru Forester XT $2,200
Subaru Impreza WRX $2,550
Mercedes ML $8,800
Golf GTI $3,500

I was thinking along the lines of Honda CRV Ex-L or similar. Does 2500 CAD discount off of MRSP sound reasonable ? Thanks.

2011 or 2012?

The 2012 is newly redesigned and unlikely to be heavily discounted yet, but deals on remaining 2011s should be good, althouth the 2012 is by all accounts the better vehicle.

I would strongly recommend that you go and buy the lemonade guide - its the equivalent of parkers guide I bought it at superstore for about 25 bucks

You'll never know until you get in front of a salesman in a dealership. Always be prepared to walk away and never pay BS admin fees.

The best $40 the OP will ever spend.

As the site says: wholesale price plus 3%-6% less manufacturer incentives.

On the radio the local Honda franchise is advertising 4k off list on 2011 CRVs... I wonder how low they would go if pushed...
