Car insurance in Toronto
Me again! another couple of questions, sorry i keep posting!
So i got a couple of quotes for car insurance last night...
Dodge Ram = $3500 per year!
Honda Civic Sedan = $4300 per year!!
2 extremes of cars and both really expensive.
Will this just be the company we are trying with or just that insurance is extremly expensive!
Could anyone give me a rough price of what they pay for their car in Toronto and what car it is?
I am 24 with 5 years no claims
my fiance is 26 with 7 years no claims!
ive read a few times that no claims arent accepted in Canada from the UK
This in consideration we have now been looking at renting a car for the duration, unsure if this would be cheaper in the longrun with no maintainance etc....
im hoping someone can tell me some good news and weve just tried the wrong website!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's probably about right for Toronto and new to Canada drivers - insurance is notoriously expensive.
Do you actually need a car every day if you are going to be living in Toronto?
You might find these threads of use:

We've just been quoted around 3000 for a new Ford escape with zero no claims but that's a heavily discounted policy through COPA for pilots

If you are living in Toronto you may not need a car depending on how close you are to transit.
We didn't bother getting a car and just rent cars when we need them. We have a few Zip car places near us so can rent by the hour for shopping etc. For longer than a few hours we use normal car rental places.

They accepted my 6 years no claims from Ireland(they take UK no claims as well). Was the cheapest quote I got.
I pay $2200 per year for a 2012 Kia Sportage, with no previous Ontario driving experience.
It still won't be cheap though as you'll be paying much more for being under 30.
What neighbourhood you live in will affect your premium too

Re: Car insurance in Toronto
I've been with Johnson for 4 years now. I recently called a broker who gave me a quote that's $500 cheaper on my home insurance. My wife's car insurance was also way cheaper than what Johnson was offering.
Call a local broker and get a quote, you'll be surprised.

That Johnson seems pretty good.
I pay $170 per month via Desjardins (used to be Sunlife).
That Johnsons is quoting me $158 per month.
2007 Honda Civic Coupe in Downtown Toronto.
