You would need to check with Insurers in your Province to see if they will accept MIB no claims data or if they require physical letters (in approved format) from each insurance company.
You will also need a copy of your driving record (drivers extract) https://www.gov.uk/government/public...driving-record
To exchange your driving license in Ontario see: https://www.ontario.ca/page/exchange...rivers-licence / https://drivetest.ca/licences/licenc..._exchange.html

Reviving an oldish thread...
It seems like Johnson's no longer insure anyone new unless they have a group policy with them
Cheapest I found that considers international experience was "Intact insurance", at around 260 a month (included 10% discount for having the app that tracks you). Another 10% discount is possible if you get home insurance with them.
Still a bit outrageous considering the deals I am seeing above for Johnsons. Has someone had luck with any other providers?

Sorry to revive this older thread. What are the latest tips for insurance quotes in Ontario?
I know that insurance companies may not recognize UK no claims, but what about time the license has been held? Does it include UK time held, or only the Ontario after exchange?
They did write down the UK issue date on the Ontario MTO paperwork and I have my DVLA abstract to prove dates, so I believe that it should be included.
There’s a significant discount for having held a clean licence for 10+ years, so it makes a difference in my quotes.

The best tip for car insurance is not to move to Brampton though there are countless other reasons not to move to Brampton. Discounts for years licensed and years without accidents differ between carriers, as does the required evidence. I'm sure the required proof of no accidents is covered in earlier posts on this thread.

It's not going to matter, five years is the most credit you can get and that doesn't make a huge difference to the premium, at least it doesn't with the major companies.

Waiting on what a broker can offer me.

Just to clarify, the driver record that the Canadian insurance companies may seek is merely the DVLA report that states if you have points or not, vehicles you can drive etc?

I'm still in the process of getting a used car and insurance (crazy prices in Ontario) but if the insurance company is willing to credit your previous driving record (ask them), you would want a certificate of entitlements from the DVLA (screenshot won't work) and when you exchange your licence in canada, make sure the MTO notes the details on your file (issue date, entitlements etc).

Some are offering a 10 year clean licence discount. Without I'm getting $100-120, and with around $70-80/month for an old Jeep. I found Onlina who accept licence history before exchange as long as the info is registered with MTO and proven with a driver's abstract.

I also recently moved to Ontario. I was just checking if you found a broker that considers UK driving history?
My current cheapest quote is with Intact for $330

Some companies like Onlia (budget online-only insurer) may consider UK licensed years, but not UK insurance history. Price very much depends on your postcode. 300 is low for the GTA and high for Nothern Ontario.
