Car Insurance
When trying to get a quote, I have driven in UK for 8 years but zero time in Canada , does this count for anything ? Also any cheap insurers that people have used? Looking to get a cheap car next couple days I live in Alberta.
Thanks |

Thanks If you are getting a cheap car you will only need the equivalent of Third Party Fire and Theft so that will save you some money straight away. As for recommended companies I've had good quotes from Intact through a Broker who is able to recognise prior driving experience. A lot of companies simply won't be interested in recognising previous experience though so you will likely need to find a broker who is clued up on foreign driving experience. I'm currently with Canadian Direct who are fairly reasonable as well. Tim |
Re: Car Insurance
As said, it counts if you have proof of a no claims history from your previous insurers. Without proof of a no claims history then you would get nothing.
Not sure of any value in a drivers abstract for insurance, I have never used one or needed one. |

Re: Car Insurance
If you do a search of previous threads, you will find tons of posts of companies others have gone with... have you done that?

Re: Car Insurance
Did you have any luck finding car insurance that recognised your UK experience? I am in Ontario and still struggling to do so!
