Canadian recognised distnace learning
 

Hi All
Well its six years 'til i move now so better get my arse in gear.
Im in the Military and am an Engineer by trade (nuts and bolts ie Weapons and Electrics), i would like to have some guidance from you clever folk to try and 'Canadianize' my studies from here on in. Quiet time in Iraq could be better used to study from afar methinks.
I will have spent 22 years in the Army by the time i leave (a qualification in itself) and hold numerous qualifications already but really want to land and start running. The desired area of work would be Engineering/Gas/Oil/Hydro etc.
Any help truly appreciated.

Need to be looking at Alberta as it is one of their industries.

A Google search brought up a two-year Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma course offered by SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, located in Calgary). The website stated that the first of the two years was available through distance learning.

You probably would find out a lot if you searched the Alberta Government's Advanced Education and Technology website. Thoroughly explore the site to find the list of trades and occupations in Alberta, what qualifications you need to practise in those trades and occupations, and how you can acquire those qualifications.

Another good website to check out is Alberta Learning Information Service. Although it is an Alberta Government website, it has links to post secondary educational institutions across all of Canada's other provinces -- including those that offer distance education.
