Canadian PR
Hi, everyone here.
I immigrated to Canada in 2002. Got my PR card, after one month living in Canada, I miss my friends and family so badly – so I moved back home. Now someone just told me – If I’m not going back to Canada within 2 years (start calculation from the day I left), that means I forfeit the right. I will not able to get back there anymore. Is that true? Although time to time I’m back there for a couple of day’s holiday. Any suggestion? |

If you do still want to live here permanently, you have to meet the residency requirement of being here 730 days out of 5 years. If you give up your PR, I dont think there is anything against you still visiting. Once you have three years residency out of four, you can apply for Citizenship, which means you can then leave indefinately, and still return to Canada at a later date. Iain |

It doesn't matter what someone else tells you, am sure CIC explained this to you when you got your PR, just in case you forgot, here it is again in widescreen   http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/res-oblig.html How clear is that?
