Default Canadian Driving License

Anyone know how to get my UK license switched to a Canadian one, and what i have to do, or point me in the right directions.

Thanks

Depends which province you're in. If you're in BC you can do a straight switch. Although they will only issue you an interim one until you've got your PR card through...

Not wholly accurate - TWP holders can get a licence without holding a PR card.

In BC they will test your eyesight and peripheral vision as well. Then they ask you some questions on the Canadian Highway Code.

As far as I recall they asked about green flashing lights, avoiding emergency vehicles and one other. I forget now. It wasn't anything to worry about at all. And they did test for my peripheral vision too.

Presumably you had to take a proper driving test like the rest of us who arrived before last year.

Now they check your eyesight with a machine and ask a couple of questions (which it doesn't matter if you get wrong) and then hand over a BC license.

I did indeed. I guess they could figure out on the test if you could see or not.

There's a question about the vulnerability of motorcyclists. There was also a question about not passing a school bus with its red lights flashing.

That's interesting as I'll also be looking to swap out a motorcycle licence too in BC, so it'll be good for me to answer what I am vulnerable to, when taking other road users into account
