Canadian Dollars
 

Hi Folks, arrived in Canada from UK in July last year to become a Canadian Resident. Now heading back for a few weeks to visit family. Does anyone know how how much cash I can lawfully bring back, Have been holding off bring money via the bank due to the exchange rate at the moment, but thought that if it goes up any when I am in the UK I would bring in cash in CAD $ but just how much can I bring in legally ?

Back into Canada? As much as you like. But if you bring more than $10k in you need to report it on entry, not for tax reasons, but due to the money laundering monitoring laws. If you wire transfer it to your Canadian account then the reporting is done automatically.

Yes I know but we have to hope.
Husband & I are also Scots. Retired here to be near to the kids & grandkids.
Where do you live & how long have you been in Canada>

Been here since 2004. Living on the Bay of Quinte (about an hour from Belleville and Kingston). Was retired here however now have had to go back to work Part time due to the deplorable devaluation of my UK pension against the Can Dollar. Thank you so much Mr 'no more boom & bust' Brown! Anyone else remember that statement from 'Broon' when New Labour came to power?....:sneaky:....Oh well, one can only hope for an improvement on the exchange rate over time, however I am not holding my breath! :thumbdown:
