Thanks, I'm aware of the sale, but I know sometimes they have a discount code. So just wondered if there was one at the moment.

Canadian affairs rarely come at a discount.

The divorce laws are brutal here.

A few years back, Canadian Affair (I'm still laughing at Novocastrian's post!) &/or Transat had great deals, usually better on the UK -> CA side.

In the last 3 years, I have found booking KLM direct wins hands down over all comers from CA SIDE: I can fly YUL/MME/LHR/YUL, with a stopover in Amsterdam or Paris for the same price Transat etc quote me for YUL/London return.

Skyscanner was good for finding a very cheap flight over Christmas for my sister from UK to Canada.

Montreal - Durham Tees Valley - Heathrow - Montreal...??

Interesting routing

Seriously, though, you going via AMS on KL? Or are there AF codeshares involved too? Not been on either long-haul so curious as to any reports on how they compare to AC/TS in economy...

If that means KLM through Amsterdam, then that's not a bad choice. AF code shares though are no substitute for actually flying AF. Much better all around treatment (at least until you arrive at CDG).

AC (Air Canada?) is acceptable unless you want to ogle the air hostesses and expect to be treated like a normal human being.

If TS means Air Transat then that, to put it mildly, is in another class altogether.

Works for me ;-) Dad puts the kettle on when he hears the plane coming in ...

Other half of the family are all over Yorkshire/down South so I meander down the country by train & leave from London.

Usually via AMS, although on a couple of occasions it's been Paris, with Air France on the return from London leg. Sometimes the London to AMS or Paris flight leaves from London city, which means I avoid the LHR hellhole entirely :-)

Bad form & all that, replying to myself, but I realise I didn't actually answer the question: Klm/AF economy class infinitely preferable to Transat cattle class; customer service superior to AC, in my experience. KLM has also upgraded me to biz/1st class twice. Once because of mucking up my reservation, once for no apparent reason, but Hey, I'm not complaining :-)

A quick check earlier has KLM quoting significantly lower rates than the usual cheap flight contenders, for my "interesting routing", as well as for YUL -> LHR (via AMS) I suspect that if one is flying to/from Toronto, one might see an even more significant saving...
