Canada to UK

I have searched for advice on how to get money from an account in Canada to an account in the UK without success although there is lots of info the other way. I would need to do this on a regular basis perhaps bi-weekly.
Any advice helpful people? :)

I think I read once on this site that HSBC bank is alot more 'internationally' friendly... have you had a look on their website?

I would use an internet transfer company. I have used Vantage online from Custom House for the last few years, they have been very good and I would recommend them.

You can transfer funds to them via internet banking and they will credit your account the same way. Exchange rates are good and you can set up trades to take place at a time in the future.

It took me a few exchanges to get used to the idea, but I swear by it now.

Their web site is: http://www.customhouse.com/

Select services then online services, the Vantage sign up is on the left of the screen.

Good luck!

Or open a Nationwide account and then withdraw cash in $ as often as you want at a fairly good exchange rate :D

I think Dying misread your post to be the other way round - you trying to get CDN dollars from UK instead of the other way round.

My mum has to go into her Canadian bank to transfer money into my uk bank when she's sending b-day presents etc to me here. I think the Immigrants suggestion might be the most viable for you to do relatively easily.

Wish I could remember the details re HSBC but that thread was back in the summer on this site and don't recall much about it as it didn't pertain much to my situation.. sorry I can't help more with it! :o

Does your Canadian bank have an alliance with a UK bank? That might make life easier. My Canadian bank (Scotia) is part of an alliance with my UK bank (Barclays). Bringing money west hasn't been a problem so far.
