Good Afternoon,
My name is Steve aged 67 uk retiree my wife is Elaine Hello.
We have visited BC many times over the years whilst we worked in our home country England. Now retired we are thinking of buying a Motorhome in Canada a Diesel Pusher. Our plan is to fly into Vancouver and spend up to 5 months touring Canada then we were wondering would we be able to then cross into the USA for 5 months then return into Canada for a final 1 month and put the motorhome into storage and fly back to England....We may at a future date try and retire in Canada but for this trip it would strictly be a holiday taking up to a year.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
So the question is would that kind of holiday duration be allowed by Canada immigration

Hi, welcome to BE.
As Brits, you'd get up to 6 months upon entry to Canada. If you went to the US for 5 months (with a visa allowing you to do that bit, as the VWP only gives you 90 days in the US), then I can't imagine it would be a problem to reenter Canada for another month if you had a specific reason for it. Should be fine IMO.
Just FYI though, getting a visa to live in Canada as a retiree would be next to impossible, unless of course you have Canadian family that could sponsor you or another route.
Good luck and have fun!

If the family is a child or grandchild then they can sponsor you for PR.

FYI, only Canadians are allowed to snowbird into the US for up to six months. You are British, not a Canadian. You will need to apply for an ESTA, one for you and one for your spouse, and if approved that will only give you 90das in the US, NOT three months. No way would you be allowed to stay in the US for 5 months UNLESS you first get a B1/B2 at the US Consulate in London and then the length of time to visit the US is dependent on the examiner at the Port of Entry.
