Canada pension
Hi to everybody. I'm not british but I'm immigrant in Canada also and I have few questions if you can help me with some ideas. If you leave Canada after a while.. let's say 5-7years, do you get any pension? If you will get, do you have to file taxes every year till you retire or you can apply when you are 60-65 years old at the canadian embassy? And the last one question. Do you have to get citizenship in order to get pension even if you were permanent resident?
Thanks for your help! |
Re: Canada pension
I know that you don't need to be a citizen. My sister is a PR although she has been in Canada for nearly 40 years. For some reason she hasn't applied for citizenship. I know that she can or maybe is already, getting CPP.
We have some friends who were born and worked in Canada. About 10 years ago they moved to the Caribbean. I am pretty sure that they can get CPP. Not sure about OAS though. I can't be bothered to read through all the stuff - but here is a link to CPP - I am sure all the information you need will be there. http://www1.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/isp/cpp/cpptoc.shtml Others will probably have more answers for you. |
