Canada or Australia

I came back from Australia in November 2007 as we were on a 457 visa and the job wasnt as promised. Myself and partner are considering going back to Australia on a permanent visa this time. We want an idea of house prices, rates etc as we are comparing Canada and Australia any info would be appreciated.

House prices across Canada vary immensely depending on which province you choose to live and whereabouts you choose in each province. For instance some provinces are alot cheaper property wise and some are really expensive.

I would research where you employments are most required and then start to research those provinces and areas and then make your decision.

For house prices try http://www.mls.ca as this is the multiple listing service for the whole of Canada. Also the wiki pages on this site for Canada as there is some good information about the whole of the country, jobs, life and general information about the immigration process for the country.

Good Luck with your research

hi, my husband and i and 4 children live in perth australia and for the average house purchase price is between $400,000-$550,000 and this is usually based on a 4 bed 2 bath , 2/3 reception rooms, single storey. In melbourne they are about $50,000 cheaper but the further away from the city you are the cheaper they are. Our average food bill for the week can get upto $300 and fuel prices have just soared to $1.60 a litre.(in perth) You will need 2 cars as its quite vast and if you don't live near shops you will be travelling quite a way. We have just bought some land and the rates for that is $900 for the year but not sure for a house as yet. If you have kids and they go to school you also have to pay for all their writing equiptment and books for the year which can get upto $120 and then some school (if catholic or private) can be around $1200+.
I hope this has helped you out a little but if u need more info just ask. nat
