Can I give my car ?
Hi,
I would like to know if I can just give my car (as a gift) to my daughter (25) once I will be in Alberta.
In Quebec it's possible to donate a car to his child and there a no taxes (you just have to show a birth certificate).
Is it the same in Alberta ?
She just sold her car here in Montréal and will use mine as a secondary driver until we move to Calgary. My insurance company thinks it would be better to do so instead of doing a lot of paperwork for a very short time in Quebec and doing the same again in Calgary with a new insurance company.
Thanks

BC has PST which is due even when buying used privately, however the insurance agents have a 'Gift Letter' that the owner can fill in if they are giving the car away. It does not have to be to a relative either.
