Calling all Winnipeggers (for job help)
Hi there,
So we're on our way with a study permit and OWP approval and are flying out on Christmas day!
I'm currently in the process of looking for work in Winnipeg via the usual channels (Workopolis and Monster.ca) and have been keeping an eye on some of the larger firms GWL, Investors Group amongst others.
I was wondering if any expats had any suggestions of places that I could look in Winnipeg or any potential leads? I currently work in the IT Sector within the NHS so Manitoba e-health seems like a good fit for me?
I'm pretty much a IT generalist, having worked with networks, hardware, and application support so can fit into most roles with a bit of learning time!
I've had a read through the jobs wiki and have taken on board those ideas as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Cheers!

It does seem from what other people have posted that it is easier to get a job by a) knowing someone, b) face-to-face.
Make sure your resume is written in the Canadian format, which is different from the UK.
You might find that nothing will happen until you are feet on the ground, and phoning the companies.
Have your tried looking at Winnipeg newspaper ads online?

I've heard people mentioning the job site 'indeed'
Might be worth a look.

Cheers Scot!
I've had a look through that as well, I'm going to keep looking and hope someone is hiring in the New Year
