I've gotta recommend Midnapore - where, irony aside - I can walk to a decent Indian Curry house, as well as a great community lake, 2 or three schools, the doctors office, etc etc, and I can be on my bike and out of the city in 3 minutes!

It's ever so slighty in need of a makeover, since the houses were built in the late seventies. But the trees are mature, the lots are bigger, and the houses set further back from the road.
