Have a look on MLS - www.mls.ca - realtors operate differently from estate agents (remember Hale & Pace's "R Soles & Co"?) - pretty much everything gets listed on the multiple listing system (ie. MLS), including vacant land.

I'm curious why you want to live 20 mins north of Calgary? Airdrie is a nice little city - Carstairs is a bit further north. The strip between Edmonton and Calgary running through Red Deer is our equivalent of the M4 corridor. The area around Sylvan Lake is probably some of the most expensive property in Alberta.

20 minutes south takes you to Okotoks - you won't get three acres very cheaply there. Go west and you get to quiet little places like Langdon, go east and you get to more expensive places like Canmore.

Kamloops is nowhere near Calgary, it's over in BC and the weather is very different.

Like I said, have look at MLS, it's the easiest way to find property.

Langdon is east of Calgary, Canmore is west of Calgary.

Mrs G beat you to it - I was just too lazy to change it. We're thinking about building a house at the moment and I'm rapidly losing the will to live - my head is spinning with options on options.
