Buying and Selling Houses

To All

I’ve been reading through several threads of people who’ve bought a house before finding work. This seems a bit odd to me as I’d want to live quite close to where I work, as commuting 2 hours each way does not thrill me!

Exactly how easy is buying and selling houses? I’m thinking in case you have to sell up when you can’t get work locally.

Thanks

It's as easy as talking to a realtor ... it doesn't cost very much to buy, but as the seller pays the fees to sell, it costs a lot if you realise that you made a mistake ... somewhere in the region of $10K to $15K for a $200K to $300K family home.

There are a load of sell it yourself web operations, but I haven't heard of anyone selling through one ... you don't get listed on MLS and no realtor in their right mind is going to promote your property.

Rent until you have a job and you're sure you're in the right place ... it'll also give you an idea of what sort of budget you've got to live on.
