I have only owned a Chevy and a Mazda long term, about 15 years apart, Chevy was fine, Mazda we have curious to see how long it goes before something major goes and it gets shipped to the junk yard or sold for scrap, so far 170,000km and 10 years old almost and going strong.
About 3 years ago, I hired a Dodge SUV near San Francisco and drove it to Buffalo. We made it but seemed to struggle getting over the Rocky Mountains with insufficient power to climb hills without changing down. We nicknamed it the Dodgy Dodge.
I also hear that Jeep's have Just Enough Efficient Parts.
And why is it that - in BC anyway, all affordable cars don't seem to have power adjust for the passenger seat?

I think the issue is you are going for all the cars that everyone else wants.

I bought a 2021 BMW M340i xDrive ex-demo car from auction with 8,500kms on it (MSRP $71k) for $60k even. Still has until Aug 2024 prepaid warranty and maintenance.

I counted the amount of cars outside of 2 dealerships as we drove past them on Saturday. One was a Dodge dealer, the other a Ford I think. One had 23 vehicles, the other 26. Slim pickings for those wanting to buy.

Doesn't seem that bad here - Ford Dealers seem to have plenty of F150's on the lot. I have to replace or buy out my Hyundai Palisade next July, so we'll see what the situation is then.

Husband did say something about them sending the stock out whilst they are waiting for the chips and getting the dealerships to finish them off. Maybe they have started?

When I was getting my tires swapped over two weeks ago at the dealer, I noticed when leaving that there seemed to be very few cars inside the showroom. I thought maybe it was because they were going to be putting newer models in, but in retrospect it could have been due to the lack of any cars to put in there.

I was at the Ford dealer this morning, they said there are acres of F150s in Oakville and Dearborn, finished, just waiting for chips. The farrier waited ages for his, eight months maybe, while the old one got older and older and more nerve racking to count on.

I drove across America in a 1980s LC. Never saw anything like 13mpg so, if it's true of this one, it's either a great advance in engineering or a benefit of being more minivan than truck.

Facebook market place is full of them.
Hi any advice on buying a cheap but reliable "beater"? Everything that I see at the low price range on Facebook and Kijiji is scrap/for parts. I'd ideally like to get a manual hatchback but that's just not an option it seems- at any price. I'm in Ontario.
