To Buy or Not to Buy - Ladies Fashion
Hiya
It's about 12 months until we expect to land in Canada. I'm not sure whether I should stop buying clothes so I have less to ship (as we don't intend to get a container) or whether I should stock up in the UK sales. Don't really know the cost, quality or style of the clothes available out there.
I've heard bras sold in Canada aren't that comfortable so I've been stocking up on them, but don't know how everything else compares.
What are your thoughts?
Cheers
Helen

I'd buy bras and shoes/boots, and if it's your thing, plain M&S cashmere mix jumpers - it was so hard to get anything as nice as those for the price.

Clothing for men is easy in BC.
November to March: fleece, shirt and jeans.
April to October: T shirt and shorts.
All year round: baseball cap.
I can't help with the bras.

I would stock up on undies (men and women). I find good clothes expensive for example I have just bought a rain jacket - nothing fancy, waterproof/windproof and breathable with a hood that can tuck into the collar - $128. I didn't and wouldn't pay that (I got my discount). But then I'm one of these peeps that can't see the point of designer clothes that are twice the price of the same item without ETNIES or whatever written on it

IMHO fashion is about 20 years behind, the only shoes I find have wedges on them like I wore at my wedding in 1975. Bra's yes do stock up, they are expensive unless you are flat chested
I like Hanes underwear and have been buying stocks from the US for years and can get the same sort in Zellers.
I love Additionel for clothes and when they have a sale they are ok for prices.
Winners is great -their prices for designer duds really good, but their prices for handbags is bloody rediculous so buy them from Bentleys and bugger the name tag.
so in a nutshell, shoes and bras are my only issue.

Buy undies & bra's that a definite!
When I moved out to NS in 2000 I went to buy a thong(!) to wear under ski pants and was promptly told by the lady in the shop ' Honey they don't keep your ass' warm in the winter! we do white knickers This big – THIS BIG and THIS BIG. If you want thongs you'll have to go to Montreal - those Frenchies wear thongs! So I remember when La Senza opened in Halifax my girlfriends and I thought we had died and gone to undie heaven!
No seriously - NS has got better for nice undies but for price, selection and fit I would get them in the UK.

If you are the kind of person who loves shops like New Look and Primark for fashionable, cheap stuff, I would also stock up on that. Not much like that here - I can't wait to go mad on my first visit home!
