Default Building a new social life....

Hey,

Me, my partner and 8 year old son are moving from the UK to near Red Deer AB on the 9th March. We will be living just outside Ponoka with family.

I am only 28 and my partner is 24, I am am concerned about how I am going to forge a new social life and make new friends. I have seen that Red Deer has a decent nightlife, bars etc but have no idea how to go about meeting people and actually going out lol.

At the moment I only live 6 miles from my nearest town which has a reasonable level of nightlife, cheap enough for a taxi home blah blah but I realise Red Deer is quite a distance from where we will be living.

I have no idea what the social culture in CA is and whether people don't mind travelling for a night out or if it just isn't done!

Any tips??

If any expats live in this rough area, feel free to message me

Thanks

Try volunteering or join an interest group (amateur theatre, sport, card game etc.)

Can you borrow their friends? At least tag along with your family when they see their friends?
